Transportation

LTS does not provide regular transportation at all locations. Please check with your campus to find current bus routes. If transportation is required by a student’s Individualized Education Plan (“IEP”) for a student with disabilities, transportation will be provided. However, LTS may provide transportation in school vehicles for educational field trips and participation in athletic and other extracurricular events.

Riding a school vehicle is a privilege. Drivers have the authority to maintain discipline and require seating charts. When riding a school vehicle, students are held to behavioral standards established in this Handbook and the Student Code of Conduct.

Students must

• follow the driver’s directions at all times;
• enter and leave the vehicle in an orderly manner;
• keep feet, books, instrument cases, and other objects out of the aisle;
• not deface the vehicle or its equipment;
• not put head, hands, arms, legs, or any object out of any window; and
• wait for the driver’s signal in order to leave or cross in front of the vehicle.

Only designated students are allowed to ride in the vehicle. Students may neither ride the vehicle to a different location nor have friends ride the vehicle to participate in after-school activities.

If a student with a disability is receiving school transportation as a result of an IEP, the student’s admission, review, and dismissal committee will have the discretion in determining appropriate disciplinary consequences related to inappropriate behavior in a school vehicle.
