Student Fees

Which school materials are free, and when might families need to pay fees, deposits, or fines?

Materials that are part of the basic educational program are provided with state and local funds at no charge to a student. Students are expected to provide their own consumable items, such as pencils, paper, pens, erasers, notebooks, calculators, headsets, etc. Students may be required to pay certain fees or deposits, including the following:

  • 1. Membership dues in voluntary student clubs or organizations and admission fees to extracurricular activities
  • 2. A security deposit for the return of materials, supplies, or equipment
  • 3. A fee for personal physical education and athletic equipment and apparel, although a student may provide the student’s own equipment or apparel if it meets reasonable requirements and standards relating to health and safety
  • 4. A fee for voluntarily purchased items, such as student publications, pictures, yearbooks, etc.
  • 5. A reasonable fee, not to exceed the actual annual maintenance cost, for the use of musical instruments and uniforms owned or rented by the school
  • 6. A fee for items of personal apparel used in extracurricular activities that become the property of the student
  • 7. A fee for lost, damaged, or overdue library books
  • 8. A fee specifically permitted by any other statute
  • 9. A fee for Legacy Kids Care after-school program

LTS may waive any fee or deposit if the student and parent are unable to pay. A request for such a waiver must be made in writing to the superintendent or designee and include evidence of inability to pay. Details for the fee waiver are available in the campus office.

Families are responsible for paying all fees associated with extracurricular programs, including clubs, athletics, and fine arts.
