Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures
How do drop-off, pick-up, driveline, supervision, and authorized dismissal procedures work?
Drop-Off and Pick-Up of Students
Each Legacy campus provides drop-off and pick-up procedures. Most campuses have a drop-off period from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. and do not provide supervision for students until 7:30 a.m. Pick-up begins at 3:00 p.m. Contact your school’s front office for specifics.
Half-day dismissal follows a different schedule. For most schools, on half days, pick-up begins at 11:40 for grades K–2, 12:00 for 3–5, and 12:20 for 6–8 and students who walk or ride the bus. Pick-up and drop-off for a.m./p.m. kindergarten are subject to school schedules. Check with the campus for specific times.
Procedure
- Legacy-provided pick-up signs are required and must be clearly visible in order for a child to be picked up from campus.
- Physical pick-up sign in the current year's color is required. Photographs of sign, handwritten signs, etc., are not accepted. Additional signs are available in the front office.
- If the Legacy-provided pick-up sign is not present, the student will not be released until valid identification is provided. The pick-up person will need to go into the front office and have their identification verified through the student’s approved pick-up list.
- If a person will be picking up regularly, please communicate with the front office to get instructions on how to add them to your student's pick-up list.
- Students will not be called down for pick-up until parent arrives.
- Parents/guardians are expected to maintain appropriate school behavior when on school grounds and follow all traffic guidelines.
Late Pick-Up
Parents are required to pick up their student(s) during designated pick-up times. For the regular school day, students picked up after Driveline has been completed will be considered a late pick-up. Students attending after-school activities, including tutoring, sports, and clubs, have varying dismissal times. Students picked up more than 10 minutes after dismissal of these programs will be considered a late pick-up. If late pick-ups are excessive (more than three), students may be subject to removal from the activity, and parents will be charged a fee for late pick-up.
Charges for Late Pick-Up
Parents are required to pick up their student(s) immediately after school. Students picked up more than 10 minutes after these times will be considered a late pick-up. On the first late pick-up in a quarter, parents are given a warning notice. On the second late pick-up, parents will receive a final warning. Starting on the third late pick-up, parents will be charged $1.00 per minute late, per student, for the time the child is left on campus.
If LTS is unable to contact parents or emergency contacts listed, staff may be required to call local authorities to assist. Staff are not permitted to transport children to or from the program. If late pick-ups are excessive (more than three), parents may be subject to legal action.
Unsupervised Release Procedures
Parents may request to have their children released off-campus to walk or ride their bikes home at the conclusion of the school day. In order to do so, parents must select the unsupervised release option of “bike” or “walk” on the online enrollment form. Changes may be made at any time in the front office. Unsupervised release students are provided with a school-issued zip tie that is to be placed on their backpack.
At dismissal each day, unsupervised release students initial the classroom form and have the teacher initial next to theirs. If the student is participating in an after-school activity (club, sport, tutoring, etc.), they are still required to initial the sign-out sheet before they leave the classroom.
For safety, in the case of an emergency requiring the student to walk home, the parent/guardian is asked to email the front office, so there is a temporary written release on file. The student will be issued a temporary walker pass in lieu of the school-issued zip tie.
