UNIFORM DRESS CODE
What should my child wear to school, and what rules apply to uniforms, shoes, hair, jewelry, and special dress days?
A.R.S. § 15-342(22) sets forth that a school governing board has discretionary powers with regard to the setting of school policies, including the requirement that students wear uniforms to school to support the mission. One of these expectations is the mandatory uniform dress code, which LTS has deemed appropriate in order to contribute to and promote the academic environment.
To attend class, all students must be in compliance with all aspects of the student uniform dress code policy, including the requirements related to hair. It is the responsibility of both parents/guardians and students to understand and comply with all student uniform dress code standards.
LTS teachers ensure that students are in compliance with the mandatory uniform dress code daily. When instances of noncompliance are identified, the school will notify parents/guardians, who may be required to bring appropriate clothing or footwear to the school for their child(ren).
Hair Code Policy
Hair should not obstruct student vision, and it may not interfere with or become a distraction to the learning environment.
Extreme hair designs and unnatural hair colors are not permitted. Examples of extreme hair designs that are prohibited are mohawks of any length and shaved designs.
LTS does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, or national origin in its administration of this hair-grooming policy.
The Mandatory Uniform Dress Code
Students are expected to come to school in a presentable manner that demonstrates respect for themselves and their school. All school attire should be fitted, clean, and neat.
As mentioned above, hairstyles should be neatly groomed and non-distracting.
The Mandatory Uniform Dress Code chart below is nongendered and shows the standards expected of LTS students.

Legacy Spirit Days Dress Policy
LTS will celebrate Legacy Spirit Day every Friday that school is in session. This will be an opportunity for students and staff to display their school spirit and strengthen their school community. Legacy Spirit Day dress for students will be as follows:
Students may elect to wear spirit T-shirts or school sports jerseys (ordered through the Legacy site) in lieu of their usual polos on Legacy Spirit Day. Expectations for pants, skirts, jumpers, shoes, outerwear, jewelry, cosmetics, and hair will remain the same as a normal school day, with the exception that students may wear athletic shorts or athletic pants (not yoga pants) that are in solid dress code colors (red, maroon, white, or navy blue) or black. Students not wearing spirit T-shirts will be expected to wear their regular uniform polos.
Legacy Dress Down Days and Spirit Week
On the last day of each quarter, students will be allowed to dress down and wear clothes of their choice instead of school uniforms or spirit wear. Clothing must continue to be modest and appropriate and fall within the dress code guidelines for fit, length, and neatness. There may be additional dress down days announced throughout the school year to honor specific holidays or events. Spirit Week is a week-long themed event. Daily themes will be announced in advance.
Field Day Dress Policy
Students may wear athletic wear for Field Day. Dress-out clothes and footwear need to be modest, be appropriate, and fall within dress code guidelines for fit, length, and neatness. Interpretation of suitability is at the administration's discretion.
Picture Days
Legacy provides opportunities for students to have school pictures taken twice a year.
- Fall pictures are used in the school yearbook, and students are expected to remain in school uniform.
- Spring pictures include eighth-grade promotion and kindergarten graduation pictures. Students may either wear their school uniform or dress up for school pictures. “Dress-up” clothes and footwear need to be modest and appropriate and fall within the dress code guidelines for fit, length, and neatness.
- Specific guidelines for spring picture days:
- Collared shirts
- Blouses that are sleeved and opaque
- Flat, closed-toed shoes (no heeled dress shoes)
