CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES

Official handbook information for Legacy Traditional Schools Arizona families about classroom activities.

Birthday Treats

Parents and/or guardians may provide a sealed, store-bought birthday treat (limit one food item per student) to be shared with the class during recess to celebrate their child’s birthday. Legacy believes in providing all students with the opportunity, support, and encouragement that birthday celebrations bring, and we encourage our families to also promote healthy choices for our students. We ask that parents and guardians either send the treat with their child at the beginning of the school day or drop off treats at the campus front office at the beginning of the school day.

Please note: Balloons, flowers, and gifts will not be delivered to classrooms due to allergies or possible disruption to the classroom learning environment.

Classroom Parties (Kindergarten Through Fifth Grade for LTS K–8 Schools and Kindergarten Through Sixth Grade for LTS K–6 Schools)

Classroom parties are limited to a maximum of four per school year: Fall, Winter, Valentine’s Day, and End-of-the-Year. Parents/guardians may bring in party items for these occasions before school or one hour before the party.

  • Please note that Legacy is NOT an allergy-free school or a nut-free school.
  • If your child needs accommodation, please contact your child’s teacher.

Field Trips

Field trips may be scheduled and are related to the curriculum and appropriate to students’ grade levels. One field trip may be scheduled with the principal’s approval each year. Under special circumstances, and with prior approval from the principal, teachers may schedule two field trips. Students are expected to adhere to the Legacy dress code. Every field trip will have clear academic objectives. Teachers may require students to take notes and/or collect data for reports. Arrangements for the field trip, parent notification and permission slips, transportation, lunch arrangements, and adult chaperones are determined at least two weeks in advance.

Parent phone calls are not accepted in lieu of a signed permission slip. Parents/guardians may choose not to allow their child to attend a field trip. Students must ride the bus to the field trip and ride the bus back to the school. Field trips are a privilege, not a right. Students who exhibit positive behavior throughout the year will be eligible to participate.

All parents/guardians chaperoning a school field trip must have a Legacy background clearance prior to attending the field trip and only attend field trips with their child’s class. All chaperones are expected to dress modestly while attending field trips.
